01 / The starting point

Prepare what matters.
Leave the rest flexible.

A good checklist starts with the things that are difficult to improvise: entry requirements, insurance, medication, arrival transport and the first night’s address. Once those are secure, you can spend less time managing the trip and more time enjoying it.

Requirements depend on nationality, residency, route and activity. Check the official information that applies to you rather than copying another traveller’s experience. This page organises the decisions; the relevant authority, carrier or provider confirms the rule for your case.

Test the checklist against a real day

A useful checklist describes actions, not just objects. Saving an address is different from knowing how to reach it. Packing a charger is different from having access to it during a transfer. Walk through arrival, a normal outing and a moving day, then add only the gaps those situations reveal.

Keep confirmed details separate from things still to check. Give an unresolved item a named source or person to contact, so it cannot disappear into a long list. Revisit the list before each major move. You should be able to explain the next stage of your trip without depending on a single device or an unread booking email.

02 / Before departure

Prepare in three passes.

Work from the hard-to-replace essentials towards the small practical comforts.

  1. Documents, entry & cover

    Before you commit

Check passport validity and visa or travel-authorisation requirements for your nationality and residence status. Use official Moroccan guidance and your carrier’s requirements. Arrange travel insurance that covers your planned activities, and seek appropriate travel-health advice in time for any personal needs.

  2. Bookings & practical access

    Before you pack

Confirm the first accommodation, arrival transfer and any fixed-date transport. Save the exact address, meeting point and contact number offline. Check luggage rules, charging needs and how you will access money or mobile data without relying on a single device or card.

  3. A usable small kit

    Before you leave home

Pack for the actual regions and activities: comfortable walking footwear, useful layers, sun protection and essential personal medication with appropriate documentation. Keep crucial items in accessible hand luggage within carrier rules. A mountain or desert activity may require equipment beyond a city packing list.

03 / A closer look

Your phone should not be the only copy.

Save tickets, addresses and important contacts in a way that still works without data. Keep a separate way to recover access if the phone is lost or stops working. A short written list of the next accommodation, insurer and emergency contacts can be more useful than dozens of screenshots.

Share a simple itinerary with someone you trust and update it when the route changes. Protect personal documents and booking details from casual exposure. Preparation should make the journey simpler, not turn your bag into an archive.

04 / Make it work for you

Avoid the common gaps.

The first arrival

Know where you will meet the driver or how you will reach the property. Confirm reception arrangements if arriving late and keep a backup contact method.

Special equipment

Check restrictions before bringing drones or specialist gear. Do not assume that equipment allowed on the plane is automatically allowed to enter or operate in Morocco.

The final departure

Plan the return to the airport or port before filling the final day. Long road transfers deserve a buffer, especially from mountains or the south.
