Enough time to find a rhythm
Morocco Itinerary: 7–10 Days
Choose two or three bases and let a region reveal itself. A week becomes richer when the route has a clear centre of gravity.

01 / The starting point
Choose a region.
Keep its character.
A week gives you a real choice: connect a few northern cities, follow part of the Atlantic, or pair Marrakech with a coastal or mountain stay. It does not require a dash from Tangier to the dunes. Start with what you most want to experience, then draw a route that keeps those places close enough to enjoy.
The northern example below uses Tangier, Tetouan and Chefchaouen. With seven days, give each two nights. With ten, add a night to each or extend the coast. Arrival and departure logistics still matter: returning to Tangier should be part of the plan, not an afterthought on the final morning.
Give each base a different purpose
Write one reason for each overnight stop. If two places serve almost the same purpose, decide whether both deserve a move. A useful sequence might combine a city chapter with a contrasting smaller base, while leaving enough time to understand each. The difference between places matters more than the number of names on the route.
Keep one uncommitted block near the middle of the trip. It can absorb a delay, allow another visit to a favourite neighbourhood or make a planned outing unnecessary. Review the final transfer before booking the first room; the route only works if its ending is as considered as its beginning.

02 / Shape your journey
One northern example, two comfortable paces.

- 2 nights · or 3 with more time

Tangier
Arrive, explore the kasbah and leave time for the waterfront. A third night can support an Asilah outing or a slower museum-and-café day. Check ferry terminal names carefully if arriving by sea: the port you use changes the transfer into town.
Explore Tangier - 2 nights · or 3 with more time

Tetouan
Continue by road and use Tetouan as a city in its own right. Separate a medina walk from a coastal outing. If you want a beach day, choose it deliberately and check the weather, rather than treating every afternoon as available for another city.
Explore Tetouan - 2 nights · or 3 with more time

Chefchaouen
Road transport brings you into the Rif. Give yourself one full day without a suitcase: explore early, pause and return to the lanes later. A third night allows a locally arranged nature outing if conditions suit. Confirm the return journey to your departure airport before booking the last stay.
Explore Chefchaouen

03 / A closer look
The same principle works in the south-west.
If your flights suit Marrakech, use the same two- or three-base logic: Marrakech, Essaouira and, only with enough time, a mountain stay. This is an alternative to the northern example, not an addition to it.
A six-night holiday might use three nights in Marrakech and three in Essaouira. With nine nights, give both more time or introduce a third base. Place a mountain stay around weather, walking ability and road conditions, rather than assuming every valley is a simple day trip.
04 / Make it work for you
Make the route feel like yours.
Two bases or three?
Two bases give you more full days and fewer transfers. Three work when the links are straightforward and you value the contrast. Mark each transfer day before adding activities to your calendar.
Where does the journey end?
A return flight may require a final night near your starting city. An open-jaw flight can save backtracking, but only if the airport links and flight times are useful.
What gets the extra nights?
Add nights where you have an actual reason: a workshop, a museum, a coastal pause or a hike. Avoid spending an extra night in a place solely to balance the numbers.
