A different eastern horizon
Mediterranean Coast & Eastern Morocco Route
Coastal stays, eastern cities and a different view of Morocco. Build around one gateway and make the longer inland extensions a deliberate choice.

01 / The starting point
Look east.
Travel with a clear centre.
Eastern Morocco is not simply the space beyond the familiar northern route. Nador, the Mediterranean coast, Oujda and the landscapes around Berkane offer different reasons to stay. Al Hoceima can be a western chapter, but joining everything requires time and a workable road plan.
Start with your arrival gateway and choose two or three bases. A coast-focused holiday around Nador and Saïdia has a different pace from an inland journey towards Figuig. Do not turn the oasis into a casual day trip from a beach hotel.

02 / Shape your journey
Three eastern chapters.
A suggested rhythm to adapt around your arrival, interests and energy. Check transport and access before you book.
- 2–3 nights

Nador & its coast
Use Nador as an arrival base and confirm the exact location of your stay. Decide between city life, lagoon views and a beach setting before choosing a room. Rail or road arrival still leaves a local transfer to arrange.
Explore Nador & its coast - 2–3 nights

Saïdia & Berkane
Choose this chapter for coastal time with an inland contrast. Check the season, the services operating near your accommodation and the distance between the resort zone and the town. A quieter season can also mean fewer dining and transport options.
Explore Saïdia & Berkane - 2–3 nights

Oujda
Make room for the eastern city itself: a medina walk, a relaxed meal and a sense of everyday neighbourhood life. If you are drawn further inland, plan Figuig as an additional journey with its own transport and nights, not as a short excursion.
Explore Oujda

03 / A closer look
Figuig changes the scale of the trip.
Figuig is an oasis destination far from the coastal holiday circuit. Its appeal comes from staying, understanding local life and arranging visits with care. Transport, heat and accommodation need to be checked before you commit.
The Morocco–Algeria land border is closed. Do not design a route around crossing it, or wander into border areas for a photograph. Use current official travel advice for the precise area you intend to visit and ask a knowledgeable local host about access.
04 / Make it work for you
Set expectations before booking.
Holiday coast or cultural circuit?
A beach-centred stay can work with very few moves. A cultural route benefits from city nights and pre-arranged transfers. Decide which experience matters most.
Summer or a quieter season?
Coastal demand and services change through the year. Check what is actually open at your chosen property and nearby, especially when travelling outside peak periods.
Do you need a car?
Compare the real coach or train route with a driver or rental. A car can help with dispersed places, but parking, insurance and road conditions still belong in the budget.
